# The parents of Charel Marais

No baptism or other direct evidence to be found, but Charles, the son
of Claude Marais, known as Charles Marais d'oude, is satisfactorily
identified in the records as farming in partnership with his brother
Steven and seems, according to the muster rolls, never to have been
married. This leaves this Charles, de jonge, out on a limb. The baptismal
witnesses of his children suggest that he was proabably a son of Charles
Marias and Anna de Ruel.
