'Thomas Fish MA, born in the County of York, priest of the Church
of England, curate for 21 years of the church of St. Margaret Kings
Lynn and one time rector of this parish'.

The history of his descendants is reconstructed largely from the
will abstracts in the above collection, plus some baptisms that I
have come across in my searches for other Fysh families.
I would guess that the way this prosperous family spelt its surname
was carried over to other families surnamed Fish, which existed in
several areas of Nofolk. Certainly in the Kings Lynn area, several
families, almost certainly not related to this family, had their name
spelt in the same way. |
