Thomas Fysh
labourer 1815, butcher 1821, farmer 1841 1
born circa 1781, Norfolk 2
Notes:
In the Terrington St. Clement Registers he is described in 1815 and
1816 as a labourer, in 1821 as a butcher and in the 1841 census his
occupation is given as farmer.

The children given here are those whose baptisms I have so far been
able to find.

Donald Reid has supplied children and dates in his data on the
Australian Fysh families:

William Fysh b.Abt 1803 d.1881
Clement William Fysh b.1804 d.1876
Thomas Lowe Fysh b.1805 d.1857
James Lowe Fysh b.1807
George Horatio Fysh b.1811
Elizabeth Harriot Fysh b.1815 d.1816
Horatio Fysh b.1816 d.1879 m.Elizabeth Petit b.1830 d.1869
Harriot Elizabeth Fysh b.1821 d.1859

and J.P.G. Fysh states:

William, his eldest son and Horatio, his youngest, became publicans in
Hackney. William, at his death was a wealthy man and it seems likely
that he had made money by property development in Hackney and the
neighbouring areas.

Horatio, with whom his sister Harriet lived for a time, sadly died in a
mental hospital. His two daughters emigrated to Australia.

Thomas's second son, Clement William, was a carpenter and beer-
house keeper in Islington. He too may have engaged in property
development for he left a certain sum of money, enough to keep his
spinster daughter for life.

The occupation in London of James Lowe Fysh, Thomas's third son,
is not known but he may also have been a carpenter before emi-
grating to Brantford, Ontario.

and A.V.G.A. Fysh in the Norfolk Ancestor of December 1984)
