Geertjen Gerrits
died 1692
Gerrit Jansz Visser 1
farmer 2
of Blaubergh 3
born Ommen 4
died between February and September 1713 5

His children are given as listed in the inventory, dated 17th October

In the muster rolls of 1693 they are listed as living in the Cape

there are 14 children and in January 1702, 11 children.

In the inventory of his deceased estate, dated 17th October 1713,
he is stated to have ten children then living, named as Thieleman,

Thieleman Visser 1677-1713
born 1677 7
baptized 21 February 1677, Cape Town 8
died between 1713 and 1715, (assumed)  9

Notes: In the the muster roll of 31 December 1704
and again in 1705, he is listed as a single man living
in the Cape District, but not after that date. He is,
however, listed as one of his father's heirs in the
inventory of October 1713, but is no longer included
in the estate accounts of 15 November 1715.

He signed a statement in Stellenbosch on 24 August
1706 (1 STB 18/155, 26)

There is an entry in the Weeskamer Journal for 1718
for a Thieleman Visser, f. 382.18.18 as at 1 Jan 1718

and Aaltie Visser for f. 454.16.-

and Gerrit Visser for f. 1782.7.-

all separate (not one after the other)

Hendrik Visser 1678-circa 1713
born 1678 10
baptized 23 October 1678, Cape Town 11
died circa 1713 12

Notes: In the the muster roll of 31 December 1709 he
is listed as a single man living in the Cape District, and he
made an opgaaf return for 1712, still living in the Cape, but
does not appear again after that date. He is not mentioned
among his father's heirs in the inventory of his estate filed
with the Weeskamer October 1713, so one can assume that
he too died during the smallpox epidemic of 1713.

Aeltie Visser born 1680

baptized 2 July 1680, Cape Town

Jan Steenkamp 17 died circa 1720

Gijsbert Visser born 1688
born 1688 18
baptized 27 August 1688, Cape Town 19

Notes: He is not mentioned among his father's
heirs in the inventory of his estate presented to the
Weeskamer October 1713, so one can assume that
he died before that date withoug leaving heirs.

Jannetie Visser 20 born 1690
born 1690, at the Cape 21
baptized 28 May 1690, Stellenbosch 22

Notes: In the inventory of 17 October 1713, MOOC 8/2, 82,
listing the the goods of the deceased Gerrit Jansz Visser, among his
children are listed both Jannetje and Johanna. The Estate Accounts
drawn up for the same deceased estate in 1715, list Johanna but no
Jannetie. A child not named in the 1713 list is, however, introduced in
the person of Anna Visser, married to Jan Arent Rodewald.

The marriage entry of this couple and her later remarriage to Jacob
Nissen makes plain, however, that the Anna must be a mistake and
that the person intended was Jannetie.

She appears not to have had any children.

# The parents of Gerrit Jansz Visser

It seems likely that he was the son of Jan Coenraet Visser and
Geertje Gerrits his wife. Firstly his patronymic was 'Jansz',
meaning his father's name was 'Jan'. Secondly Jan Coenraet's
nickname was 'Grof' and we find Gerrit Janse Visser listed thus
in the muster rolls for 1677 (VC39, page 57): Gerrit Groff en
Johanna Thielemans, 1 k. Thirdly the baptismal witnesses of the
first two children of Gerrit Jansz and Jannetie Thielemans were
'Jan Coenraets Visscher and Grietie Gerrits his wife'.

Since his birthplace is given as 'Ommen' he was presumably one
of the children who accompanied Geertje Gerrits when she came
to the Cape to join her husband, arriving 4th February 1662.
