(Leibbrandt, Letters Despatched, 1695 - 1708, page 117) In the Estate Accounts of Floris Slabbert, dated circa 1727-31, he is described as the late Robbert Brand.

Elsje Sophia Brand 17 born 1715 born 1715 18 baptized 10 March 1715, Cape Town 19 Notes: It seems that on 22nd December 1721, as an orphan, she was place by the Weeskamer with Jan Arend Rodewalt, as he was asked on the 22nd February 1722 about his promise on that dated to take her. Her replied that his wife had not allowed it and told him to get rid of the child. He had therefore taken her to her grandfather, Floris Slabbert.  married Gerrit Visser 20 Huijbregie Brand 21 born 1717 born 1717, at the Cape 22 baptized 13 May 1717, Cape Town 23 Notes: Her name appears with that of her husband on the reverse side of the Inventory receipt with a note of what they received out of the estate of Floris Slabbert. I have assumed that she was one of the five children of Neeltje Slabbert.
